Laser Hair Removal
A laser produces a beam of highly intense concentrated light. Pigment in hair absorbs the energy of the laser; therefore, hair needs to have pigment to be treated. Laser hair removal is a method of preventing hairs ability to grow or produce by significantly impeding the follicles ability to re-grow. There are three phases of development but hair only grows in one stage called anagen. During this stage hair contains an abundance of melanin. This is the stage you want to treat hair in. The catagen stage is a regression phase and telogen is a resting phase. This is where hair prepares to be shed resulting in development of new hair.
Laser hair removal is non-invasive and virtually painless with little or no side effects. It is best to treat non tan skin but pigmented skin is treatable. Visits range from 10 minutes to 2 hours depending on the area being treated. It is best to shave just before the treatment and wait a few days after to shave again. On average 6 treatments is typical but can very person to person.
Side effects are minimal and include redness, bumps and mild body aches. You can resume normal activity immediately.
