Neck Lift Surgery

A neck lift is typically done as part of a facelift but can be performed alone. This helps correct the sagging lose skin in the neck and can help with fullness in the chin. The neck lift is usually performed on people between the ages of 40-60; however, those in their 70s-80s have good results as well.

What to expect from the consultation: During this visit you should expect to sit at length with your doctor and discuss your goals for surgery. It is important to be informative about:

  • Past surgeries
  • Past and current medical conditions
  • Any medications and vitamins you are currently taking
  • Any and all supplement you are using
  • Allergies to drugs, foods, dyes and rubber
How the surgery is performed: The surgery of the neck is performed by placing incisions under the chin and around the ears. When there is an abundance of extra skin in this area it needs to be removed as part of the lift. Sometimes liposuction is necessary but all this is determined by your surgeon at the time of your visit. The surgery take about two and half hours and you go home the same day.

What to expect after the surgery: During the first week after surgery you will experience discomfort, numbness and discomfort. You will have to wear a facial garment to hold compression. For the first twenty-four to forty-eight hours you will be mostly be at bed rest. Sleeping in a elevated position can help with the swelling. For the first week you should plan on remaining at home. You can resume normal activities after four weeks.
